Late hint of grain ...
Appearance:
Polished harvest golden coloured lager with a good head of white foam, mostly of a small bubble. Carbonation remains resilient throughout consumption.
Smell:
Opening aromatic gambit of fresh malt, quickly followed by hay, grassy hops, and a late hint of grain.
Taste:
Light body. Mouthfeel is of soft, luscious malt that yields gently to a rising tide of hop bitterness. Bitterness continues to develop favourably in middle. Medium finish, with hops now securely established as the dominant flavour, but with strong supporting malt in this finely tuned and balanced lager. Some dryness in concluding volley of hops. Good, well-established hop character.
Notes:
Holland's other 'big name' lager shouldn't take a back seat to Heineken. Unpasteurized. Very high quality brew.
Beer Type: European Style Pilsener
