Green Day Taps New Producer
According to a Green Day fan site “Green Day Authority”, producer and Garbage drummer Butch Vig has been chosen to produce the next studio album from the punk trio.
The rumor first surfaced during an interview with Carson Daly, in which guest and Garbage singer Shirley Manson discussed the details. Very little is known about the new Green Day album, though the band’s record label let it slip that the record is due in 2009.
Butch Vig, a veteran producer, has produced many albums including:
· Nirvana’s “Nevermind” (1991) (CLASSIC)
· Smashing Pumpkin’s “Siamese Dream” (1993)
· Jimmy Eat World’s “Chase the Light” (2007)
· Against Me!’s “New Wave” (2007)
This is the first Green Day album since “Kerplunk” that will not feature Rob Cavallo as producer. Rob produced the multi-million seller “Dookie” through to their critically acclaimed, punk rock opera “American Idiot”.
